How do I get into musical theater when I haven't taken choir or joined a musical since 5th grade?

I can sing pretty well without prior training. I haven’t had any guts to sing in front of people until recently. I’m a junior in high school. I can’t take choir this year and I don’t really think I should take it because I have a good voice for solos and I would just stick out. I have no experience in musical theater but I’d really like to get into it… is it too late? What can I do?
