How long are original casts usually together in musicals?

I’m talking a litttle more specifically about the RENT original cast as well as the Wicked cast. But also in general, how long do many original casts stay together. My sister guessd 6 months, a friend of mines guessed a year. Is anyone has any guesses theyr’re greatly appreciated.
