I need a good mezzo soprano belt-y musical theater audition song!!!!
It needs to be very well known because if the director doesn’t know the song, she makes you sing something else. So just a classic musical theatre song would do! Please answer if you know one!! (:
Also, i am NOT doing popular because i learned at an audition workshop that popular is the worst song to pick if you only have to sing 16 bars (which i do)
For an audition coming up we can only do songs from broadway shows. I love a song from this show and want to do it but I don’t know if it’s considered broadway.

I have an audition coming up at school soon for a performance of Trouble in Tahiti. I know it isn’t really musical theater but our director is asking for us to audition with anything from Gilbert and Sullivan to Sondheim so I really want something that will show off a lot in the minute to 2 minute time.
I already have a vaudeville song from the musical Barnum and my director has heard me sing it more than enough so none from that area please.

So I go to a private high school. Every year about 40 kids audition for the musical (we don’t do cuts so everyone gets in). Does anyone have any suggestions for a unique musical that is not overdone that a private high school could perform?
