I attend a private school. We don’t have all the money in the world.
This year, we were very successful doing Hairspray and last year, Chicago.
We like to be different, and not do the usual Grease or Bye Bye Birdie like most high schools.
What do you reccommend?
I’ve seen Hairspray, Rent, and Spring Awakening.
What else is there?
Wicked?
Mamma Mia?
Jersey Boys?
Like mama mia came out in summer 2008 and hairspray came out in 2007. Are there any good movie musicals like that comming out in 2009. Im not talking about disney channel stuff like HSM and Camp Rock. THANKSS
I need to find a song for a Districts Competition. It has to be a theatre production musical and a solo. If you have any ideas please provide! For the part of what musicals I shouldn’t do well its any musical what so ever that is overly popular and songs judges would get tired of hearing. I have so many favorites : into the woods, sweeny todd, little shop of horrors, les miz, hairspray, aida, guys n dolls, jersey boys… i love musicals, old and new, and im hoping to learn of some good ones that i havent seen… so list them and tell me a bit about them… bbw – im partial to sondheim, so if you have aany reccomendations…

I am a big musical theather geek and I am looking for some new musicals to become obessed with. ;D I am looking for some new, modern, and original type musicals that have a soundtrack for sale on iTunes. I am looking for ones that are new and not considered classics. I am more interested in rock (RENT, Spring Awakening, Tick Tick Boom) and pop ones (Hairspray).

No way…I hate High School Musical with a passion. I’m taking about Broadway, not musical/movies. Yes, I know RENT and Hairspray are movies, but they were real Broadway musicals first!
Obviously there has been a rise in movie musicals lately. With HAIRSPRAY just opening in theaters, what are some of the other musicals slatted to transition into film?
