I listen to classic rock, but I have a few friends who listen to bands like Linkin Park, and I know people who enjoy the Jonas Brothers (sadly) and The Rasmus. I’ve heard all of their music, and as a musician myself, I can tell that most of the songs I’ve listened to by those bands are extremely musically simple, and consist mostly of power chords. Does anyone know if these bands (and other popular bands along the same lines) actually have any musical talent?

I mean, like the violin and piano and guitar, there have been no new invented musical instruments. Why not? Everybody and their brother and sister listens to music? We have to wait until Star Trek becomes real to hear a new instrument?

In the 90’s we saw the rise of grunge, alternative rock, hip hop, techno and bubblegum pop. What are we seeing now in the 00’s and what music will we see (hear) in the future? Is there anything new left to be made?
If Panic at the Disco is the future of music, I’m going to bury myself and live in a bunker.

i’m in the musical theatre program at my school, and we are coming toward the end of our current production of Beauty and the Beast.
However, the Director wants suggestions for a good musical next year.
I have no idea. any suggestions?
the requirements:
1. good ensemble pieces
2. at least 4 or 5 lead parts
3. good draw [gets people to come to the show]
4. good dance break moments in the music.
